Monday, September 16 ATTENDING TO DETAILS IN MULTIMEDIA



REMINDER: if you are absent, you are responsible for the material. Check the blog, see me outside of class time or send an email. You receive credit for all your hard work; so stay on top of what is happening in class.

In class:
               Part 1- we are finishing up the graphic organizer from Friday based upon Thomas Jefferson's Letter to the Danbury Baptists.

Review: There are three steps to reading closely any text:
     First we approach the text by considering the purpose for reading and the important information in the text.
      Secondly, we question the text as to its structure, ideas, language and perspective. This will allow us to sharpen our focus and pull out specific details of the text.
      Thirdly, we analyze the text by thinking deeply about the details, so that we can determine their meaning, importance and the ways they help develop ideas across the text.

To anchor ourselves, Jefferson's letter will again be read aloud and then you will read it silently.  We will then complete the organizer as a class. I am collecting these for a class grade.

Part 2: 
In class: we shall twice be watching a five minute video entitled "God in America" and then completing the graphic organizer. class handout / copy below.
