Periods 6 and 7: quick write. Period 9, please turn this 

in, as this was a homework assignment.


Using only lines 1-8, describe the character of the 
Duchess, weaving in specific text from the poem.
(class handout; or, if absent, just answer the above, taking only 10 minutes.


In class: we will continue working on "My Last 

Duchess".  This is a close reading assignment, the 

objective being to look very carefully at the context and 

nuances of individual words. (That's diction or word 

choice.) There are 24 responses. You may work with one 

other person.  This is due at the end of class tomorrow.

The expectation is that you follow the directions exactly.

For example, question #9 asks you to read the poem 

independently and question 10.b, asks you to write a

 succinct summary. Yours will not look like your 

partner's.

The graphic organizer for "My Last Duchess" is at the 

close of class on Friday. This counts as a writing grade

 and will be used as a resource for next week's writing.

If you think need extra time, please work on this for

 homework this evening.
